New Year Resolutions Solutions

Happy New Day

As each year renews, so do our intentions to do better and be better.  Why the pretense for us to make changes only when the year begins?  I get it, the start of a new year is a good turning point.  I would just like to see us continually try to change the things we want to change about ourselves rather than give up if you have failed to keep any so far.  2010 is a long time from now and you can still do a lot of good in 2009.

The first of the New Year resolutions solutions is not to make any, why let yourself down and have a better chance of getting into that winter funk?  Encourage yourself to do better and be better everyday, this will get you used to the work that goes into changing.  It is not easy, you will fail to keep your promises and it will bum you out.  Do not use the excuse of failing to give up.  If you have not held up your end of the bargain with yourself to eat right, don't eat badly for the rest of this year and try again next year, try again today!  Allow yourself to fail and do not beat yourself up for doing so, beat yourself up for not trying again.

Traditional types who need to make resolutions, make the one's you can keep.  Do not road rage unless they are really bad or careless drivers.  Do not watch too much television, unless there is something good on the tube.  There are conditions to most everything we do in life, why not on our resolutions?  So there you have it, the second of the New Year resolutions solutions, make only those you can keep.  Here is a good one for me:  laugh once an hour, unless the inividual I am with is annoying.
