Is the Company Always Right?
It is so difficult to get someone at an office, someone in a store or someone who provides a service to help me with my shopping, banking, doctoring and getting things fixed. Or is it just me? Am I invisible? Do I look repulsive? Can I really not form a sentence unless it is in writing? Do I need a breath mint? Or, do I need my head examined? Or do the individuals working in jobs to help us with things have absolutely no people skills?
Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Is the company always right now that we are so busy and hi tech? The theory that the customer is always right may just be so antiquated that if it was followed by businesses they would soon be out of business. When you can hurry more people through and make more money, is it better to protect the bottom line instead of listen and help the customer?
People ask for some pretty ridiculous things. I have overheard things in a store line, or been completely embarrassed at a restaurant when out to eat with people. It is not acceptable to be rude and inconsiderate of others, customer or company.
Perhaps I just have the odd luck of having the most bizarre situations happen to me. I really do not think that if all of the overly assertive and selfish people would be treated like this, that they would take it. Maybe I am "NEXT" after the poor people working at these places have just been berated by one of those types of people. I will pay more attention.
I usually just walk away shaking my head appreciative of those people and companies with whom I have a good and fair consumer relationship. I am also very selective who I dine with. If I walk away from a business, if I go back, it is on my terms. Mistakes and problems in a transaction can happen so just be sure you are working with a company or individual who is going to work with you instead of against you.
