- Hot Air Popper Gourmet Popcorn Recipe
A Lot of Hot Air
I refuse to eat popcorn if it is tasteless or soggy. I want it to be like movie popcorn, or the kind we watched being made as kids in a pan with hot oil, probably Crisco which is not what I would suggest be used today. If you are old enough to even know what I am talking about, and you would like to show your kids how to make popcorn in a pan, over a stove burner, be sure to use butter or canola oil instead of Crisco. If you still do not know what I am referring to and thinking I mean Jiffy Pop, I don't. If you make Jiffy Pop, do not use any Crisco, butter or oil, it is in the pan already. (…)

- Making Birthday Cakes: Homemade Birthday Cake Ideas
How you make the birthday cake is completely up to you. Box, scratch, organic or a Pepperidge Farm frozen cake…that does not matter at all. There is a link to a homemade cake in the recipe section of this site. These great birthday cakes are not going to look like the cakes from all of the cake shows on television, although I have flipped through channels and the cakes are amazing. There is nothing like a beautiful cake. The other key to the cake part is the frosting. Make sure you use a good frosting that is intended for cake decorating. You must be able to at least frost your cake in a nice smooth and clean covering over whatever cake shape you use. In the event you are pressed for time and actually had to go for the Pepperidge Farm frozen cake - which are delicious by the way. Those you can just leave as it is when it comes out of the box, in that event don't do anything with the frosting. (…)

- Microwave Cooking Tips When You Do Not Have a Microwave
Microwave-less
When I have house guests who are in need of the microwave, some pretty funny things have happened. My microwave cooking tips are a bit different than that of your typical household. First they ask, "Where is your microwave?" I reply, "I do not have one". The first time this occurred I was very nonchalant about it because it is not a big deal to me to have no microwave. I have learned to brace myself for potential reactions. Gasps of "What no microwave?" and reactions of disbelief have been a couple of them, I am waiting to be physically struck. I find it completely natural to go Microwave-less. I think a couple of them have felt a little bad for me, a few people have offered me their old microwaves…which is the right thing to do. If a microwave is safe and still works, do not throw it away! Find someone who needs it. (…)
